Decaf Coffee Myths

Many myths and misinformation surround decaffeinated coffee. For example, decaf coffee is considered to be of lower quality than regular coffee and with less flavor. In this blog post, we'll provide correct information about decaf, and more specifically about our decaf coffee.

No Good Decaf Choices

Not all decaf is created equal as much depends on the type of bean used and the method used to remove the caffeine. These are the two most important factors in the quality of decaf coffee. The best decaf will be made using specialty grade Arabica coffee beans and a chemical-free decaffeination process.

Decaf Contains Chemicals

Our process of decaf coffee is entirely chemical-free. To decaffeinate our specialty grade Arabica coffee, a mountain water process is used. This mild technique uses only pure water from the Pico de Orizaba mountain to eliminate the caffeine while preserving the coffee tastes.

Decaf Tastes Different

The best tasting coffees are specialty grade Arabica. This coffee is preferred, whether fully caffeinated or decaffeinated. Water process is the best method to decaffeinate as it has little affect on the coffee's flavor profile.

Decaf Contains Caffeine

While no decaffeination process can remove all caffeine from a coffee bean, the mountain water method removes 99.9%.
